This is a night and daytime view of the storytelling room at Skjermveien Kindergarten in Trondheim, Norway. It was built on a small budget using leftover materials from a nearby construction site. It's a place for kids to play and sit around an open fire listening to Norwegian fairy tales. Kindergarten kids in Norway stay outdoors all the time and only go indoors in the winter if the temperature falls below -10C (14F).

The treehouse was built by La Cabane Perchee [www.la-cabane-perchee.com] based in Saint-Saturnin-lès-Apt, Provence, Together they work as Lindcroft [www.lindcroft.com] building homes that must be the dream of many, a woodland fairytale house by the water's edge. This cottage was built with local douglas fir, logged and cut with a portable sawmill. The roof is cedar shingles (shakes) hand split and steamed to make them supple enough to follow the curves of the roof.

This beautiful cob home sits on the banks of a small stream in Somerset, England. Recently the little stream became a torrent that almost burst its bank, a close call for one of the most artistic natural homes in the world. It's the work of Lisa and Rich who built the house with clay from the stream and roundwood Pine and Hawthorne thinned from the local woodlands. The roof is tiled with cedar shingles and the walls are straw bale on the north and east with sculpted swirls of cob on the south and west.
