Can anyone provide feedback, experience, or professional opinion
about buying pre-fab (mobile) homes for investment and lease
purchasing them to buyers on a 30 year note?

I was always led to believe that mobile homes were not good
investments. However, I am told that they become good investments
when they are sold permenantly anchored to "real property".

I agree, this is not a route I would choose, as I mentioned in another thread....

Now if the land under them is worth something, then it may be a good idea to buy them and tear down the mobile homes to have just the land, but I imagine it would take awhile to find just the right location for this to happen.

trailors are cars people .. they have a vin and a blue book ... thats like buying a 2000 ford taurus for an investment .. just not a good idea

I totally agree with the others. Can you imagine paying on a mobile home for 30 years? I know people do it all the time, it just doesn't sound like a good idea at all to me.
