I got in on a mortgage I shouldn’t have qualified. My wife believes be easier to let go of some expenses: second car, timeshare, boat. I would prefer not to and try a refi for a lower rate. But my concern is that I’m not the only guy in line for a re-fi, and my new rate might not be so helpful. What are other folks' experience with refinancing?

It’s always a good time to reduce material clutter in your life, especially to pay for priorities like mortgages and tuitions. Definitely sell the boat, hand the timeshare to Timeshare Relief, whatever, but a person trouble by mortgages should have neither.
