I find myself wondering, since real estate investors come from all walks and stages of life, how much of an impact technology has become?
For me, the internet is indispensable. I search properties online, I communicate by email, I participate in landlord/real estate discussion forums. I have all my recordkeeping electronically. I pay all the bills online.
However, I'm fairly young and have spent the majority of my working life becoming more and more dependent on technology. I wonder how many investors are out there who prefer doing everything on paper, and in person?

I prefer the internet I don't know what I would do without it I really don't think that I would survive. I am way to dependent on the internet that is forsure.
I also depend on the internet quite a bit. I am into alot of researching and would not be able to do it so easily with the internet. Also I use it to keep in touch with family all over the states, and send pictures.

The internet is great for networking with people from all around the world. IT has been so great that I started my own website to teach others real estate wholesaling and how to be a successful wholesaler.

good for you then, since many people, really rely and depend on internet alone.. They usually prefer to do business using the internet, rather than by paper and any sort of marketing...

Anyone with a website has an edge. I've been wanting to set up a website for our rentals for quite some time, but haven't gotten to it.
What I would like to do is have a site with a page for available properties, photos and amenities. I can also put an application on there and contact information.
I'm so NOT high tech, but I couldn't live without my internet access. It's priceless. I use it for research, info, news, entertainment, communication, etc.
Other than that, I don't have or need too many techy gadgets.
I agree that using the net is critical. That's where the sophisticated buyers and sellers are, and it's the best place to find the most up to date information.
We advertise online quite a bit. It's a very different market and type of tenant, but it's one that I prefer.
I also use quickbooks to manage the finances. I guess that's slightly more high tech than a spreadsheet or some such.
Internet marketing is important in real estate but
Internet marketing as a real estate agent is important but I think that face to face marketing is important too. I find that clients from face to face marketing have a better conversion rate than internet clients at least in Austin. Im not discounting internet marketing but I think that it should be part of someones plan to market themselves but not the whole plan.
