LOS ANGELES -- Barstow and Adelanto were among the top 10 communities statewide with the greatest median home price increases in the past year, the California Association of Realtors reported.

Median home prices in Barstow were up 57 percent and Adelanto rose 52 percent from September 2004 to September 2005.

The median price of an existing, single-family detached home in the High Desert hit $312,410, an increase of 2.2 from August and 31.1 percent from September 2004.

The median price of an existing, single-family detached home in California during September was $543,980, a 17.3 percent increase over the revised $463,630 median for September 2004, the association reported. The September 2005 median price decreased 4.4 percent compared with August's revised $568,730 median price.
