High-end homes, sometimes surpassing the $1 million mark, are becoming more and more frequent nationwide. The Hornell area appears to be part of that upward trend.
And while prices of homes locally may not be reaching seven figures, real estate agents say they are escalating.
“One million is pretty elite,” Bob Blauers, Blauers and Associates Inc. broker owner, said. “I would say we are approaching the $400,000 mark here.
“We had several new homes in the last year and a half to two years that were pushing the $400,000 mark,” he added.
Robert Coddington, a Robert A. Sweeney Agency Real Estate Inc. sales associate, said he too has seen the price and frequency of high-end homes rise.
“Property values are up some, but they're not as high as other areas,” Coddington said. “But ours have still gone up.”
There has been an increase in market appreciation over the last three years, so all price ranges of housing have been affected, not just high end, Blauers said.
