Default Best investment real estate locations in the world?

If you had US$200,000 to invest in real estate. which locations would you choose to invest for best short term and best long term investments?

I'd invest in bad property in a great neighborhood. Whatever the city. Then I would fix them up and sell them.

Since I am a wholeslaer I would use that money to build my business by advertising. I am not into landlording so using that money to buy properties isnt my thing.

I am looking for that quick money by wholesaling properties.

If you do indeed have $200K which is a lot of money, you can really expand your business. Be careful what you do with it.

Default Where to invest

I think there are some good places internationally. The problem I have is that I think there are alot of risks involved. Not so much with real estate prices but with unstable goverments and changing fundamental laws. As far as America I would take a long look at your local market. The cost of owning outside your city is quite a bit higher than owning in your local market. There are property management costs and you probably want to visit the property at least once every two years. Currently I think 38 states are seeing declining prices. If you look at your local market and decide you dont see appreciation in the future you can look around the country. I know that in Austin Texas we are still seeing strong appreciation. While the rest of the country had a run up in prices we had moderate appreciation. Now while the rest of the country is tanking we are seeing moderate appreciation. If you want to look at properties in the Austin market we have an Austin MLS search on our real estate site. We are still seeing a decent amount of outside investment in Austin as people from California are looking for a strong market to invest in.
